GORUCK’s OG Tac Hat is one of our four original products, proven by Special Forces Cadre since 2010 in all 50 states and all over the world in some of the harshest conditions imaginable.
Since the beginning, like all GORUCK gear we built this Cadre Tac Hat from the ground up, with our patterns and our Specs + Materials using 500D CORDURA® on the main panels and military-grade mesh on the sides — to let a little breeze in, which is really nice in an Iraqi, and a Florida summer. There is no button on the top. This is intentional. There’s nothing to get in the way when you’re wearing hearing protection, and if you’ve ever got kids jumping all over you — it hurts less when they don’t have a button to hit into the top of your skull (IYKYK).

- Made from 500D CORDURA® and lightweight mesh. The CORDURA provides a structured fit and gives the hat a durable feel that only gets better over time, while the mesh offers breathability and more flex.
- Low profile fit, sits low on the head
- Designed for military/tactical use to perform in any situation
- Water resistant–not just for sunny days
- 2x3 inch patch-friendly VELCRO® on the front
- Velcro-friendly fabric underbill provides additional space for patches or useful items.
- Adjustable Velcro Garage: Features a single, thinner 3” Velcro strap for a streamlined fit without the bulk or flapping of excess Velcro. The garage is attached to an elastic tab, allowing for better adjustability, comfort, and a more secure fit.
- Hat Sizing: 7 1/4 smallest size and adjustable up to 7 5/8. Same fit as the Performance Tac Hat (57.5cm).
- The top button: we removed it because it serves no purpose and it hurts when you wear Peltors or other hearing protection.
